Summertime Smoothie Bowl
Freshly chopped or frozen and blended, the fruit is by and far my favorite food group. Traveling to places like Indonesia and Peru, I discovered countless fruits I had never tried before, such as dragonfruit, lychee, and chirimoya. I also rediscovered how tasty they could be when prepared in a variety of different ways.
The recipe listed below is merely a starting point, meant to inspire you to try adding your own ingredients and playing around with the different flavor profiles fruits can provide. Check out the Mindful Modifications section at the end for more ideas and inspiration!
Add frozen berries, dates, plant milk, and half a banana to a blender and blend on high.
Too thick? Add more milk. If you’re like me and want your smoothie to be thicker than molasses, try adding a few ice cubes or frozen berries, depending on your flavor preference. Alternatively, use a frozen banana. Frozen bananas are not only great for smoothies, but also for making dairy-free banana ice cream!
What I love most about smoothies and smoothie bowls is that the options are endless. You never have to eat the same breakfast twice! Check out the Mindful Modifications I’ve listed below for a few other ways to change up your breakfast routine this summer and let me know what you try in the comments below!
